Evaluation Kits

The CWave® PL3100 Evaluation Kit (EVK) is a fully functional RF transceiver platform that is easily configured to operate in a piconet environment. The PL3100 EVK enables users to quickly set up and evaluate the high-performance bidirectional transfer of streaming video, audio, and other data over a standard coax cable infrastructure or wireless connection. Audio/video test data and multimedia content is delivered to and from the PL3100 EVKs through a standard Ethernet interface controlled by Pulse~LINK - supplied test data transfer utilities or third-party applications hosted on external PCs.

A PL3100 UWB EVK can operate as either a Piconet Node Controller (PNC) or a Device (DEV). The PL3100 EVK network architecture is based on a centralized, controlled multiple-access scheme with provisions for Quality of Service (QoS) to support multiple sustained streams.

The PL3100 EVK contains a full-featured CWave® UWB chipset for connectivity over a coax cable infrastructure or wireless connection and is controlled through a PCI bus interface via an embedded Windows XP-based PC platform. The PL3100 EVK is pre-loaded with all the required utilities for initial operational setup and to establish a functional UWB piconet transport link.

Two types of EVK units are available. The functionality of both EVKs are the same, using the same CWave® PL3100 UWB chipset. The only difference is the physical interface to either Wireless or Coaxial Cable.

• PL3100-EVK00: CWave® solution with the wireless interface. A wireless connection between two devices can be established using two PL3100-EVK00 units.
• PL3100-EVK01: CWave® solution with the coaxial cable interface. A connection over a coaxial cable can be established between two devices using two PL3100-EVK01 units.
